Chevrolet Bolt model name is here to stay!

Chevrolet is looking to light up the electric vehicle segment like a lightning bolt. The American carmaker recently confirmed that it is calling its first-ever all-electric vehicle the Chevrolet Bolt. Though Chevy was hesitant in the beginning about the Chevrolet Bolt model name, after conducting two consumer studies, the carmaker has decided it is here to stay.

“The decision is made. The name won’t be changed,” said Tim Mahoney, head of marketing for Chevrolet. This confirmation highlights Chevrolet’s plan to make it easy for consumers to associate the Bolt name with Chevrolet. The Bolt will be joining Chevrolet’s popular Volt plug-in hybrid, using the similar nomenclature to increase brand awareness.

The American carmaker’s electric car is sure to shake things up in the EV segment, offering an estimated 200-mile range. The production for the Bolt will begin sometime in 2017 at Chevrolet’s Orion Assembly plant in Michigan.
