Chevrolet vehicles are known for their performance edge, advanced safety features, and fuel efficiency. As if that didn’t make them viable and appealing enough, now the automaker has made some tweaks in the area of Chevrolet smartphone integration that should please those who find themselves on both sides of the great Android/Apple technological divide.

For the 2016 model year, fourteen Chevrolet models will prove functional for both Google’s Android Auto and Apple’s CarPlay with more to follow suit. According to The Detroit Free Press, Mary Barra, CEO for GM, said, “Partnering with Apple and Google is a great example of how Chevrolet continues to democratize technology that’s important to our customers.”

This is a sign of how important technology has become to customer buying preferences. What may have seemed absurd years ago, that a buyer would reject a model if it didn’t support their type of smartphone software, is now a very tangible reality. Chevrolet has moved to prevent that from happening with their vehicles. Many other automakers are sure to follow.
