Chevrolet Bolt model name is here to stay!

Chevrolet is looking to light up the electric vehicle segment like a lightning bolt. The American carmaker recently confirmed that it is calling its first-ever all-electric vehicle the Chevrolet Bolt. Though Chevy was hesitant in the beginning about the Chevrolet Bolt model name, after conducting two consumer studies, the carmaker has decided it is here to stay.

“The decision is made. The name won’t be changed,” said Tim Mahoney, head of marketing for Chevrolet. This confirmation highlights Chevrolet’s plan to make it easy for consumers to associate the Bolt name with Chevrolet. The Bolt will be joining Chevrolet’s popular Volt plug-in hybrid, using the similar nomenclature to increase brand awareness.

The American carmaker’s electric car is sure to shake things up in the EV segment, offering an estimated 200-mile range. The production for the Bolt will begin sometime in 2017 at Chevrolet’s Orion Assembly plant in Michigan.

2016 Spark Reveal in NY Shows Off New Look

We cannot wait for the 2016 Spark!

We cannot wait for the 2016 Spark!

Chevrolet finally revealed the redesigned 2016 Spark at the New York International Auto show earlier this month, after weeks of speculation. The debut brought with it an updated list of Spark facts and tech specs.

The 2016 Spark has a 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces a solid 98 horsepower, which is a significant improvement over the model’s predecessor. Plus, you can choose between a five-speed manual transmission or a continuous variable transmission, the second option achieving a 40-mpg highway rate.

Of course, the 2016 Spark also has a more modern look, with edgier styling in mind. The newest model still has that cute feel, but stark lines, sloped windows, and cut angles keep the Spark from seeming too cartoony.

New Hybrid Malibu Joins Chevy’s Electric Lineup

We cannot wait to go for a ride in the new hybrid Malibu.

We cannot wait to go for a ride in the new hybrid Malibu.

Chevrolet’s electric lineup is filling out quite nicely. There was first the Chevrolet Volt, which just received an overhaul for the 2016 year. It’ll have a longer range as well as greater acceleration, among other improvements.

Then we heard about the Chevrolet Bolt concept, an electric crossover that was heading to production almost as quickly as it hit the auto show circuit.

Now it may not rhyme with Volt or Bolt but the brand new Chevrolet Malibu is also joining Chevy’s exciting electric lineup. The sedan will be available as a hybrid when it comes out this year. The Detroit Free Press reports that the new hybrid Malibu will “use the same technology as the new Volt for fuel efficiency.”

This technology will help the Malibu achieve 45 mpg. Those kind of numbers make the new hybrid Malibu “one of the most fuel-efficient mid-size sedans” in the market. In addition to the hybrid option, every model will be both bigger and lighter this time around.

Three Chevrolet Vehicles Top 2015 J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study

2015 Malibu tops the J.D. Vehicle Dependability Study.

Chevrolet has just experienced its best performance yet in the 2015 J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study, the industry’s benchmark study for determining vehicle reliability.

Three of the automakers’ vehicles were ranked highest in their segments: the Malibu (Midsize Car), the Camaro (Midsize Sporty Car), and Silverado HD (Large Heavy Duty Pickup). The Tahoe (Large SUV) and Silverado 1500 (Large Light Duty Pickup) also took second, and the Suburban (Large SUV) took third, in each of their respective segments.

In addition, Chevrolet was ranked among the top 10 of all evaluated brands for average dependability across the lineup, with approximately 24 less problems per 100 vehicles compared to the industry average.

“Chevrolet is committed to offering customers a complete lineup of vehicles that deliver great performance, design, and technology, and do it with great value,” said Brian Sweeney, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet Sales and Service. “Vehicle dependability is a large part of that value, and this prestigious award recognizes our ongoing efforts to further enhance value for our customers.”

In other words, if you believe value and reliability to be among the chief qualities a vehicle should have, you’d probably be well-off with almost any of the models we offer here at Hutch Chevrolet Buick GMC of Paintsville, KY.

Chevrolet’s Safety Alert Seat Gets Your Attention

Let your seat alert you to any trouble with Chevrolet's Safety Alert Seat.

Let your seat alert you to any trouble with Chevrolet’s Safety Alert Seat.

With all the noises that surround us in the car, it can be easy to ignore or not notice a simple beep or bell, which is why Chevrolet’s Safety Alert Seat uses subtle vibrations to get the driver’s attention.

The Safety Alert Seat works with the crash avoidance system. When a crash risk is detected, the driver’s seat bottom cushion will vibrate on the left or right to draw the driver’s attention towards the crash risk. This vibration is especially useful for drivers who may be hard of hearing and can’t hear the standard auditory alerts from a crash avoidance system.

“Using the tactile sense to communicate crash threat direction can help cut through the clutter of visual and auditory sensory information that drivers routinely experience,” said GM Active Safety Technical Fellow Raymond J. Kiefer, in a statement.

“The best kind of safety protection we can offer are customer-focused features that help drivers avoid the crash altogether, and which are kept turned on for every trip.”

Originally, the Safety Alert Seat was only available in GM’s luxury lineup. Now, in just two years, it has migrated to select 2015 Chevrolet models, including the Silverado, Suburban, and Tahoe.

The Chevy Corvette Stingray has always been well-known for its incredible performance. That’s why for the second year in a row the LT1 Small Block 6.2-liter V8, which powers the Stingray, was named to the Ward’s 10 Best Engines List of 2015.

After an intense set of tests, WardsAuto was able to name the Stingray engine one of the best in the world among 37 other engines from 12 competing manufacturers. According to Chevy, the judges based their decisions on power, fuel efficiency, new technology, and refinement.

“Having the WardsAuto experts choose the LT1 as one of the best in the industry two years in a row is proof of what this Powertrain team can deliver–uncompromised performance, durability and efficiency that helps make the Stingray one of the best sports cars in the world today,” said Dan Nicholson, vice president of GM Global Powertrain.

The 2015 Chevy Corvette Stingray engine boasts an astonishing 460 hp, and when paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission gets 29 mpg highway. With a 3.8 second zero-to-60 rate and efficiency that’s easy on the wallet, it’s easy to see why the LT1 was one of the favorites.

Chevrolet Trax is taking to Detroit in the new ad!

As the main location for many big-name automakers, Detroit is known for being the city of cars. Today, Chevrolet has taken advantage of this reputation by introducing the brand new Trax, using some Greater Detroit hot spots as a backdrop.

The Chevrolet Trax is the American carmaker’s newest addition to its lineup. As a small, sporty SUV with a 167.2-inch body, the Trax is agile enough to move through urban streets with ease, while still providing the cargo space and leg room needed to sit passengers comfortably. This new SUV will be specifically geared toward those with urban commutes, who also are looking for a family vehicle to haul the children around town.

Among the hot spots visited in the new Trax ad is Michigan Avenue, one of the most well-known streets in Detroit. The small SUV was also spotted near Shinola custom watchmaker, driving on Belle Isle, and in Campus Martius.

The Trax will go on sale in January 2015. To get more information on the new Chevrolet Trax, stop in to Hutch Chevrolet today!

Silverado to the Rescue at Woodward Dream Cruise

Silverados will come to the rescue at the Woodward Dream Cruise!

Silverados will come to the rescue at the Woodward Dream Cruise!

The Woodward Dream Cruise is by far one of the largest classic car events in the United States. Millions of people flock to Detroit to see more than 40,000 cars spread across the city. Part of the Dream Cruise involves an actual cruise as thousands of cars drive up and down Woodward Avenue.

Since most of these cars are older than average, there might be a few mechanical issues along the road. That is where Chevrolet is stepping in to help with the “Certified Rescue Squad” of six red 2014 Silverado trucks.

“It’s called ‘The Dream Cruise,’ but an overheated engine, a drained battery or a flat tire can turn that dream into a nightmare for enthusiasts whose countdown clock to Woodward starts the day it ends,” said Chris Brandt, Chevrolet Certified Service advertising manager, in a statement. “No one wants to break down or cause ‘The Dream Traffic Jam,’ so Chevrolet Certified Service technicians will be assisting cruisers with minor issues that can be easily remedied.”

Last year, the squad was able to help more than 55 cars on the Dream Cruise and used the information they learned to help drivers be more prepared this year. They suggest making sure your car’s battery is charged, the terminals are clean, all fluids are at the right levels (including gas), and your tires and tire pressure are good to go.

And, drivers don’t have to worry if they aren’t driving a GM car; the Rescue Squad will lend a hand no matter the make or model of your car!

Have you ever headed to Detroit to participate in or visit the Woodward Dream Cruise?
