Feel like a part of American Graffiti behind the wheel of a 2015 Chevy Impala, in honor of the ’58 Chevrolet Impala of American Graffiti.
Who was your favorite character in American Graffiti? The better question to ask is what is your favorite car in the movie? There are so many classic cars in the movie that it is hard to pick, but we here at Hutch Chevrolet in Paintsville, KY have chosen the ‘58 Chevrolet Impala of American Graffiti driven by Steve, played by Ron Howard.
The ’58 Chevrolet Impala of American Graffiti is an unforgettable car. This is a day that we should play special homage to it since it is the anniversary of the release of the movie. One of the most memorable conversations that happen in the ’58 Chevy Impala is between Steve and his girlfriend Laurie.
The ’58 Chevrolet Impala of American Graffiti is currently owned by Mike Famalette who lives in Washington. Famalette has actually owned the car since’72. This is before the movie was actually released, which would happen on August 11, 1973.
We may not be able to drive in the actual ’58 Chevrolet Impala from American Graffiti like Famalette can, but we can still feel the thrill of being behind the wheel of a Chevy Impala here at Hutch Chevrolet!
Chevrolet swept the awards at yet another ceremony at the 2014 North American International Auto Show. This time, the 2014 Impala and Silverado won for Cars.com’s Best Car and Best Truck of 2014.
During the show’s first week, the 2014 Corvette Stingray and Silverado were named North American Car and Truck of the Year. All of these accolades go to show that Chevrolet is simply the Best of 2014.
“Winning these awards is a huge honor for Chevrolet,” said Alan Batey, GM’s senior vice president of Global Chevrolet. “The fact that the top vehicle in both these categories is a Chevrolet speaks volumes about the strength of our entire portfolio.”
Cars.com goes through a lengthy testing process to find the best new and significantly updated vehicles in the industry and to determine which car and truck stand out among the rest in their ultra-competitive fields.
“Winning just one of these awards for an automaker is pretty tough, given the high number of quality cars and trucks that debut each year,” said Patrick Olsen, Cars.com editor-in-chief. “For Chevrolet to grab both awards shows the depth of their ability to build desirable vehicles.”
We at Hutch Chevrolet Buick GMC know that Chevy will keep the great vehicles and the awards coming. The New Year is already shaping up to be a great one for General Motors and the Chevrolet brand with all of the Best of 2014 honors!
We all do it to some degree, even if we don’t want to admit it. Our favorite song comes on the radio while cruising down the road and we start to sing along; some better than others. Well, The Gentlemen Mutineers, a Detroit based blues-rock band, took it to a whole new level. They recorded what they are calling the “Impala Mix” of their song “Detroit Throttle” inside of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala.
The 2014 Impala uses Active Noise Cancellation technology, which is also used in high-end headphones, to make it the quietest full-sized sedan Chevrolet has ever produced. Mark Pastoria, the Grammy Award-winning audio-engineer of Harmonie Park Studios, worked with The Gentlemen Mutineers recording the song from inside the Impala.
After listening to the recording through the Impala’s audio system Pastoria had expressed his amazement with how quiet the Impala was, even with traffic right outside the car. “It was important that we wouldn’t hear background noise while recording, and with all that was going on outside the car, I am astounded that we couldn’t hear any of it. The Impala rocks,” said Pastoria.
If you want your chance to sing to your heart’s content in the 2014 Impala come on down to Hutch Chevrolet.
