Silverado Realtree Edition Going into Production

Are you ready to catch a glimpse of the Silverado Realtree Edition?

Are you ready to catch a glimpse of the Silverado Realtree Edition?

Recently, Chevrolet has begun unveiling one-by-one a series of limited edition Silverado trucks. Using the popular pickup nameplate as a base, the company has released experimental trucks bearing names like “Rally Edition” and “Custom Sport.” The Silverado Realtree Edition is the latest of these concept-like vehicles to get the green light for production, and is the result of a collaboration between Chevrolet and camouflage clothing source Realtree.

The Realtree Edition is clearly aimed at drivers with a taste for the great outdoors. Based on the Silverado 1500 LTZ equipped with a Z71 package, the Silverado Realtree Edition is built for off-roading capability. However, the truck shirks the expected full-camouflage body paint, instead opting for an all-black look with small patches of camouflage on the hood, tailgate, and front doors. Notable features include underbody protection, monotube Rancho shocks, and 20-inch wheels.

The Silverado Realtree Edition will be released around the same time as the Special Ops that debuted at SEMA and was confirmed for production shortly after. However, people into outdoor recreation may be more attracted to the collaboration with Realtree, especially since it launches in the springtime — right at the beginning of hunting season.  Learn more at Hutch Chevrolet Buick GMC of Paitnsville, KY!

Chevrolet Silverado Chassis Cab, Bi-Fuel

The 2016 Silverado 3500HD will have a chassis cab with bi-fuel CNG option.

The 2016 Silverado 3500HD will have a chassis cab with bi-fuel CNG option.

General Motors is looking to challenge Ford and increase sales of its heavy duty pickups to fleet buyers and municipalities with a new variant of the Chevrolet Silverado. For 2016, the Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD will include a chassis cab with bi-fuel CNG (compressed natural gas) option. While limited to a regular cab configuration, the new model is sure to appeal to its target audience.

Available in both two and four-wheel-drive, the Silverado chassis cab includes both a 24.5 gallon CNG behind the cab and a standard 23.5 gallon gasoline tank. With the bi-fuel truck, Chevrolet is one of only two automakers, the other being Ford, that offer a CNG flex-fuel system.

The bi-fuel chassis cab trucks are set to roll out at the end of 2015 and appeal to fleet buyers and municipalities. Buyers of heavy duty pickups usually purchase large amounts of compressed natural gas to keep at their work or fueling site. Doing so drastically reduces their annual fuel expenses.

Warranty information is much of the same you can find on commercial trucks. The powertrain is protected by a factory limited warranty of five years or 100,000 miles. Unlike other trucks, the warranty covers the CNG fuel system and components. Chevrolet also offers free two year or 24,000 miles regular maintenance under its Chevrolet Complete Care program. Lastly, all CNG parts are available from General Motors dealerships (and online) across the United States and Canada.

While we here at Hutch Chevrolet of Paintsville, KY carry plenty of fuel efficient cars and trucks, we’re happy to see General Motors expanding in the alternative-fuel market!

Silverado to the Rescue at Woodward Dream Cruise

Silverados will come to the rescue at the Woodward Dream Cruise!

Silverados will come to the rescue at the Woodward Dream Cruise!

The Woodward Dream Cruise is by far one of the largest classic car events in the United States. Millions of people flock to Detroit to see more than 40,000 cars spread across the city. Part of the Dream Cruise involves an actual cruise as thousands of cars drive up and down Woodward Avenue.

Since most of these cars are older than average, there might be a few mechanical issues along the road. That is where Chevrolet is stepping in to help with the “Certified Rescue Squad” of six red 2014 Silverado trucks.

“It’s called ‘The Dream Cruise,’ but an overheated engine, a drained battery or a flat tire can turn that dream into a nightmare for enthusiasts whose countdown clock to Woodward starts the day it ends,” said Chris Brandt, Chevrolet Certified Service advertising manager, in a statement. “No one wants to break down or cause ‘The Dream Traffic Jam,’ so Chevrolet Certified Service technicians will be assisting cruisers with minor issues that can be easily remedied.”

Last year, the squad was able to help more than 55 cars on the Dream Cruise and used the information they learned to help drivers be more prepared this year. They suggest making sure your car’s battery is charged, the terminals are clean, all fluids are at the right levels (including gas), and your tires and tire pressure are good to go.

And, drivers don’t have to worry if they aren’t driving a GM car; the Rescue Squad will lend a hand no matter the make or model of your car!

Have you ever headed to Detroit to participate in or visit the Woodward Dream Cruise?

Chevrolet Sweeps Competition to Win Autoweek’s Best of the Best

2014 Corvette Stingray Wins Autoweek's Best of the Best Car AwardWhen Autoweek conducted their annual search for the Best of the Best Car and Truck for 2014, they came to Chevrolet; and in an unprecedented move, Chevrolet swept the awards for both categories of Autoweek‘s Best of the Best titles.

The 2014 Corvette Stingray received the Best of the Best/Car award, and the 2014 Chevy Silverado took home the title of Best of the Best/Truck.

2014 Silverado Named Autoweek's Best of the Best TruckAutoweek defines a car as any sedan, coupe, hatchback, convertible, or wagon. The truck category includes pickups, crossovers, SUVs, and minivans.

Autoweek thoroughly tested hundreds of new and significantly modified vehicles to find the best in performance, economy, style, and reliability among other categories.

The staff drove the vehicles around the track, through the streets of Detroit, and even on vacation. The Autoweek staff on the West Coast tested the same vehicles on the terrain on their side of the country and added their experiences to the evaluation.

From AutoWeek’s write up on the Stingray: “The Chevy got high marks for its flexible engine—‘monster torque,’ wrote one staffer—great brakes, and rock-solid chassis and handling. ‘There’s an eagerness here that a Corvette’s never had,’ said one tester. Other logbook comments included ‘amazing agility,’ ‘the engine is wonderful’ and ‘jeez-o-pete, this car has NO body roll.’”

When all was said in done, Autoweek declared Chevrolet’s 2014 Corvette Stingray and 2014 Silverado “the Best of the Best, pure and simple.”

Here at Hutch Chevrolet Buick GMC, we are proud to officially offer you Autoweek‘s Best of the Best, nationally recognized vehicles known for excellence and superior performance.

Chevrolet Unveils Cheyenne Concept at SEMA

Chevy SilveradoThe SEMA Show is a yearly chance for automakers and aftermarket specialists to flex their muscles and show just how much power they can pack into a single vehicle. This year is no exception, especially for Chevrolet: the GM brand brought its brand-new Chevy Silverado Cheyenne Concept truck to SEMA 2013.  One thing that may ultimately separate this truck from the rest of the pack: car buyers might just get the chance to own one.

The Cheyenne concept is a “lightweighted” truck built off the all-new 2014 Silverado platform.  To cut weight for the Cheyenne, pieces like the spare tire, trailer hitch, and interior center console were removed, knocking a total of about 200 pounds of the truck’s weight.

“Lightweighting is a time-honored method of making the most of a vehicle’s performance,” said Chris Perry, vice president of marketing for Chevrolet, in an official statement. “The Cheyenne complements its lower weight with more horsepower.” In fact, the Cheyenne, partly due to the weight loss and also partly due to a 6.2L V8 engine, produces 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft. of torque.

Chevrolet designed the Cheynne concept to explore “the performance possibilities of the all-new Silverado, which is already built on a mass-efficient layout and delivers a greater balance of performance and efficiency than any other full-size truck in Chevrolet’s history,” said Perry.  He then hinted that the Cheyenne could be a window to the future: “It is only a concept right now, but we are continually exploring new ways to give Silverado customers more.”

Giving some credence to those words is AutoBlog, who reports that there very well may be a production version of the Silverado Cheyenne concept in the future.

Looking to the future is great and all, but what if you need a truck right now? Well, that’s perfect, because here at Hutch Chevrolet we’ve got plenty of Silverados for you!  Stop in and test drive one today.

Chevy Certified Service Saving the Day at Woodward

Chevy Certified Service Rescue SilveradoFor the second year in a row Chevrolet is doing its part to help make sure that the cars of the Woodward festival are in good hands in case any trouble may arise with a Chevy Certified Service Rescue Squad. The squad will consist of ASE Certified Technicians in 2014 Chevy Silverado pickups. There will also be two Chevrolet Certified Service locations that enthusiasts can go to if they need assistance.

“It’s called the ‘The Dream Cruise’, but an overheated engine, a drained battery, or a flat tire can turn that dream into a nightmare for enthusiasts whose countdown clock to Woodward starts the day it ends,” said Steve Walczak, Chevrolet Certified Service marketing manager. “No one wants to breakdown or cause ‘The Dream Traffic Jam,’ so Chevrolet Certified Service technicians will be assisting cruisers with minor issues that can be easily remedied.”

The Chevy Certified Service Rescue Squad was on hand last year as well, and have offered the following tips to those who plan on making their way to Woodward this weekend:

  • Battery – make sure the battery is charged, the terminals are clean and check for wear or aging of the alternator belt and distributor cap.
  • Fluids – check fluid levels to make sure the vehicle is ready to operate for several hours and have extra to top it off when necessary.
  • Gas – fill it up and top it off before embarking on the journey. A sticky or faulty gas gage can leave you stranded on the side of the road.
  • Tires – check the tire pressure and condition especially if it’s a vehicle driven only a few times a year.
  • Blades – make sure the windshield wipers are in good operating condition in the event of rain.

Hutch Chevrolet hopes that everyone participating in the Woodward festival has a safe and trouble free day, but just in case we’re glad Chevrolet is there to help out.

Build Your Dream Silverado or Sierra

2014 Chevy Silverado LTZ Z71 in Tungsten Metallic

Chevrolet and GMC have recently released the complete, full-blown, configurator for the 2014 Silverado and 2014 Sierra. At the time being, you’re only able to build out the Crew Cab models, since they are the only ones available right now. Expect the Regular Cab and Double Cab flavors to show up as they are released.

There are plenty of options for both of these trucks when you build your own, which makes it that much easier to set your truck apart from the rest and make it unique to you. Here at Hutch Chevrolet Buick GMC we’ve spent a little bit of time playing around with the tool and have came up with some pretty nice trucks, but my favorite so far has been a 4-Wheel Drive Chevy Silverado LTZ Z71 in Tungsten Metallic with 22” wheels, chrome tow hooks, black tubular side steps, cargo box LED lighting, and o so much more.

What are some of the things you’d put on your 2014 Silverado or Sierra?
