This weekend kicks off the NASCAR season and Chevrolet headed back to its roots for a special debut. The double-car debut features the 2014 Chevrolet SS performance sedan racing alongside the SS racecar, Chevrolet’s entry into the NASCAR Spring Cup series.
The 2014 SS will house the LS3 V8 engine pulling 415 horsepower and 415 lb-ft. of torque. It is a perfect mix between the Chevy Camaro, the Caprice Patrol Car, and Chevrolet’s subsidiary brand Holden’s VF Commodore.
The rear-wheel drive performance sedan is nostalgia central for the Chevrolet brand. It’s been close to twenty years since they’ve released anything similar to the new SS.
“The Chevrolet brand was largely built on the strength of rear-drive performance sedans, yet it’s been 17 years since we’ve offered one,” says Mark Reuss, GM North America President. Reuss notes the SS is well worth the wait and sufficiently embodies Chevrolet’s rich history.
Chevrolet is already reliving history at this year’s Daytona 500, who else do you think will make history on Sunday?
Chevrolet is proud to be the first automaker to officially integrate Apple’s famed technology “Siri” into two of their newest models. The 2013 Chevy Sonic and the 2013 Chevy Spark are small cars known for big technology. Each model is equipped with an in-dash touch-screen displaying Chevy MyLink which allows drivers to stay more connected than ever.
Siri will work with the Chevrolet MyLink system to provide the driver with the most virtually connected drive of their life. The driver can access their iPhone contacts to make phone calls, send text messages or send e-mails. Siri will also integrate the driver’s iTunes from their iPhone so you virtually select the songs you want to hear during your drive. Without removing your hands from the wheel, you can send text messages, make calls, or skip to the next song on your iTunes playlist.
The new Siri technology in the Sonic and Spark requires the iOS 6 operating system to work with Chevy’s infotainment system. To see Siri in action visit Hutch Chevrolet in Paintsville, KY to test drive one of these great models today.
Can’t think of a V-day gift for that special someone? While mushy cards, a dozen roses, and a box of chocolates are go-to gifts, how about taking a step outside the box? It’s likely most people didn’t get up to par with their car this winter, so a car-related V-day gift may be just what the doctor ordered.
Detail your special someone’s car inside and out- When’s the last time you took the time to really, and we mean really, clean your car? Between busy schedules and cold weather, the car can get pretty messy during the winter. Take out the clutter and give it a good shine for your Valentine. Even surprise them by sticking something sweet under the sun visor when you’re finished.
Take their car to the body shop- If you’ve noticed the oil light has been on too long, or they are long overdue for a tune up, snag their car while they’re at work and take it to the shop. We want our cars to run smoothly but sometimes we don’t want to make the payment on our own. So take it in for them and even splurge on some premium oil!
Dinner and a Movie- The same old song and dance can get old. So this Valentine’s Day (if weather permits) take your date to a drive up restaurant like Sonic or a locale joint, and stop by the drive-in for in-car date that is thoughtful and unique.
Rent Their Favorite Car- We all have that number one car that makes us swoon. On Valentine’s Day surprise your date with their favorite car for the day. They’ll be ecstatic as they get their hands on the wheel of the car of their dreams.
Plan a romantic road trip- Whether you’re using a map or a GPS, plan out the locations of a mini-weekend road trip. If you buy a GPS, program the destinations inside for a destination surprise.
While cars may not scream “Romance!” there are a few cute things you can do for that special someone on Valentine’s Day.
With gas prices continually on the rise, it is likely Americans are ready for a change. Chevrolet is preparing an alternate solution to the fuel price crisis with the introduction of the 2014 Chevy Cruze Diesel.
In a year of debuts, Chevy plans to reveal the Cruze Diesel next week at the Chicago Auto Show. While no major style changes are likely to appear, the powertrain will prove to be different than any other Chevy model to date.
Automotive experts predict Cruze Eco-d will sport a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel I4 engine producing 160 horsepower and 265 lb.-ft. of torque. No fuel efficiency estimates have been released but expect a higher fuel economy than the current Chevy Cruze ECO which achieves up to 42 mpg on the highway. It’s probable that the Cruze Eco-d will top out over 50 mpg with more than 40 mpg for everyday city driving.
Are Americans ready to take the plunge into diesel-powered engines? Chevrolet will be one of the first automakers to test this theory when the Cruze Diesel goes on sale later this year.
