Chevrolet has finally equipped its famed Camaro with an engine that not only rivals, but trumps the iconic sports car’s distinct styling that has garnered most of the attention since the Camaro’s return.
The 2014 Chevy Camaro Z/28 will be powered by the track-tested and race-proven LS7 7.0-liter V8. The LS7 found in the new Camaro is a modified version of the one found in the C6 Corvette Z06. Outfitted in the 2014 Camaro Z/28, the LS7 produces an immense 500 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque.
“The LS7 lives on in the all-new Z/28, extending a performance legacy while delivering great power density in a lightweight package to give this exciting new Camaro a great feeling of control and balance,” said John Rydzewski, assistant chief engineer for small-block engines. “It introduced exotic materials and racing-influenced solutions that keep it at the forefront of high-performance technology.”
The LS7 is hand-assembled at General Motors’ Wixom, MI and delivers the ideal combination of weight and size to power the 2014 Camaro Z/28.
The LS7’s low mass and high rpm capability make it the perfect choice for the lightweight, track-capable Z/28, exemplifying all the strengths and attributes of the small-block architecture,” added Rydzewski.

Are you ready for yet another big Chevrolet reveal? 2013 has proved to be a big year for General Motors with the unveiling of the 2014 Silverado, 2014 Corvette Stingray, 2014 SS, and now the 2014 Camaro.
The Camaro rounds of the trio of new performance cars Chevy will offer next year. It joins its two powerful brothers, the Corvette Stingray and the Chevy SS.
Chevrolet has kept mum on the exact specs on the refreshed 2014 Camaro but experts say the new muscle car will house a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6. Models with this type of engine currently produce 355 horsepower.
While experts and enthusiasts continue to speculate, the 2014 Chevy Camaro will make its debut at the New York Auto Show next week. The International Auto Show in New York starts on March 29 and the cars will stick around the Big Apple until April 7.

While the 2014 Corvette Stingray has taken the sports car world by storm, one other Stingray is also topping the charts. In a recent post by http://complexrides.com, they list the “50 Best Hot Wheels of All Time”. While Chevy recently revitalized the Stingray name, the 1976 Hot Wheels Version of the Stingray is still making a name for itself.
The 1976 Corvette Stingray Hot Wheel car is one of the most popular Hot Wheels ever made according to Chris Yuscavage who put together the list. He ranks the ’76 Stingray as 5th best Hot Wheel of all time.
“You can’t go wrong with a classic, which is why Hot Wheels has recreated this Chevy over and over (and over!) again over the last four decades,” Yuscavage writes in the Stingray caption.
Chevrolet and Mattel have had a strong relationship over the years. Aside from the chart topping miniature Chevrolets Mattel creates, Chevy has come up with a couple Hot Wheels-inspired life-size cars, too. The most recent being the 2013 Chevy Camaro Hot Wheels Edition (pictured above) which can still be ordered at select Chevy dealers like Hutch Chevrolet.
