Buick had big news to announce at the DENT Conference in Sun Valley, Idaho, on March 24—they’re bringing 4G LTE capability to many of their vehicles for 2015 and all of their vehicles by 2016. The 4G LTE technology will be in support of OnStar and will come as an option on the Encore, LaCrosse, Regal, and Verano for 2015.
The list of features that come with this OnStar 4G LTE capability is rather stupendous. First of all, each vehicle will feature a built-in Wi-Fi hot spot. Connect your vehicle to that invisible baby and you can work and play away right from the comfort of your home on wheels—you can check email, watch videos, play games, and more.
Plus, you’ll also get to use the Buick AppShop, which should include services like Slacker Radio, NPR, iHeartRadio, The Weather Channel, Eventseeker, and Priceline. If you’re looking for this technology now, come by Hutch Chevrolet Buick GMC to hear about the Encore or another 2015 model. Or, if you’re a patient type, wait till 2016 when every Buick will feature OnStar 4G LTE capability! The choice is yours—as long as you choose Hutch.
If someone asked us here at Hutch Chevrolet Buick GMC which we were more excited about, the new lineup of Chevrolet vehicles or the next installment in the Marvel movie universe, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” we’d obviously answer: “Both!” And that’s not cheating—because Chevrolet and Marvel recently launched a cross-marketing campaign leading up to the movie, featuring many Chevrolet vehicles in action.
Chevrolet chose Marvel and Captain America specifically for several reasons. One: the enduring global popularity of the Marvel movies grants the Chevy brand priceless exposure, increasing customer awareness worldwide. Plus, the action-adventure aspect of “The Winter Soldier” allows you to see the Chevy vehicles in rip-roaring chase and action sequences.
“Core brand values such as innovation, young-at-heart, heroism, can-do-spirit, and authenticity intersect very well with Captain America’s values,” explained Steve Tihanyi, general director of marketing alliances and branded entertainment for GM.
You can see the newest Corvette tearing up the screen in “The Winter Soldier” starting April 4, where it is the featured car of Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow character in the film. For now, though, check out this adorable video below of kids playing parts from the movie, which doubles as the first installment of the cross-marketing campaign.
In 1999, GMC introduced the Denali trim: a solution for those customers wanting to take a step up to the next level of luxury. It’s been 15 years since its creation, and the Denali trim continues to deliver a first-rate driver and passenger experience for GMC customers – so much so, that Denali has essentially become a sub-brand as recognizable as GMC itself.
When 2013 wrapped up, GMC sales had increased compared to the previous year by 9 percent. What’s interesting about this is the fact that Denali-specific sales increased by over double that amount in 2013, up 20 percent.
Currently, GMC offers the Denali trim for the Terrain, Acadia, Yukon, Yukon XL, and Sierra. Some of the distinguishing features of the Denali lineup include the signature chrome grill, interior wood-grain accents, and advanced power, technology, and performance.
Find out why the Denali trim continues to boost GMC sales numbers and has made a name for itself all its own. Schedule a test drive today!
No one quite knew what to expect out of the Buick Encore, the brand’s small but luxurious crossover. But after completing its first full year of sales, it’s safe to say no one expected the new vehicle to sell quite this well. The Encore sold a total of 97,311 units globally, with 31,046 of those crossovers going to U.S. buyers alone.
These numbers seem gargantuan in comparison to even the highest of expectations—Automotive News, for example, predicted a global sales maximum of just 18,500 Encores for 2013. “Right out of the gate, demand for the Encore was high,” said Tony DiSalle, vice president of Buick marketing. “It accounted for most of the segment’s growth last year and that’s because it offers the right safety, technology, and features in the right-sized vehicle for many customers.”
Here at Hutch Chevrolet Buick GMC, we’re not surprised at all by the Encore’s success. The powertrain mates a six-speed automatic transmission with a 1.4L Inline four-cylinder engine for an output of 138 horsepower. This impressive amount of power goes along with an EPA-estimated 33 mpg highway to make the Buick Encore a very desirable option in the small crossover segment, indeed. As Buick designers and executives take a bow for their 2013 success, here’s hoping for an “Encore” 2014 performance!
