Get some great camping tips to enjoy National Camping Month!

June is the month where we finally emerge from our abodes and shake off the last remnants of cabin fever. It also happens to be one of the best months to pitch a tent and brave it for all-night adventures in the wild (or semi-wild). Makes sense then that June is National Camping Month.

As many of you have likely experienced, camping can be tough. To ensure that your night out amongst the flora and fauna goes off without a hitch, here are a few helpful camping tips.

Make sure you bring the right supplies! Some sort of water filter and hydration bladders to store the water. Fire resistant gloves are a must if you enjoy cooking over a campfire. A multi-tool is absolutely essential to any camping trip.

Your success can largely depend on your campsite. Choose a location upwind from your neighbors, away from potentially falling dead branches, but otherwise with plenty of tree cover to abate a light rain.

Trail Sherpa provides other tricks to help you have the best camping trip possible. “Cotton balls with a smear of petroleum jelly make great fire starters,” and “Create various zones at your campsite,” like one for eating, another for lounging, etc. Bring activities and games for the kids! Camping can be thrilling for them, but it helps to keep them occupied at all times.  Tell us here at Hutch Chevrolet Buick GMC of Paintsville, KY your camping tips!

Buick’s Intellilink System Put to the Test

None can beat the Buick's Intellilink system!

None can beat the Buick’s Intellilink system!

When you hear that GM engineers spent 210 days playing with Buick’s Intellilink infotainment system, you might think they were slacking off. That’s not the case.—they were working. In fact, it’s this extra effort that ensures the new system is free of bugs and glitches.

Now, we should explain: because of a special kind of testing method, these 210 days of use were condensed down into an actual week’s length of time. It should be noted this is not the kind sterile and irrelevant testing that doesn’t translate to the real world.

The test “replicates every module with which it interacts” and otherwise “simulates realistic everyday usage,” notes GM Authority. The kicker is, the approach does all this 30 times faster than normal usage.

The car is an environment in which consumers have a stronger need for smooth and uninterrupted operation. For instance, when you are headed down the road, you need to know where to turn immediately, not eventually. This is why GM engineers take testing so seriously.

Test drive a Buick today at Hutch Chevrolet of Paintsville, KY and find out why the Buick’s Intellilink system is the best in the industry.

2015 Buick Verano Tires are Specifically Tailored by GM

The 2015 Buick Verano tires have been designed to give you the smoothest ride!

The 2015 Buick Verano tires have been designed to give you the smoothest ride!

It’s no secret. The engineers at Buick are over-achievers. They’re perfectionists. We know this because Buicks are some of the smoothest riding automobiles in the world. These people will stop at nothing! For example, just look at how far they went with the 2015 Buick Verano tires.

In their quest to achieve hitherto unseen levels of smoothness, Buick engineers turned their attention to where the rubber meets the road. GM Authority tells us that Buick has “tuned and refined the Verano’s tires for reduced noise and a comfortable ride.”

GM teamed up with Continental Tire to create a couple of tire packages to complement the Verano’s specially-tuned chassis and excellent insulation. Chris Arabian, GM tire development engineer, said, “We needed to ensure that we provided ride comfort, while also balancing fuel economy and rolling resistance.”

The first was a 17-inch tire designed to enhance fuel efficiency by preventing resistance. The other was an 18-inch designed for the Verano Turbo. It makes for “crisp handling and a sportier feel.”

2014 Models to Offer Covered Scheduled Maintenance

Scheduled MaintenanceGM recently broke news that select 2014 Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC models will be covered by their new maintenance plan. The plan will cover certain scheduled maintenance services for two years or 24,000 miles; whichever comes first.

“We know that customers who service their vehicles at our dealerships are much more likely to purchase another GM product down the road,” Akerson said.  “It’s all the more important to bring customers to our service facilities for routine maintenance to further enhance the quality and reliability of their GM vehicles.”

What you can expect from the scheduled maintenance program is a complete oil change with filter, four-wheel tire rotation, and a 27-point vehicle inspection. For those who purchased their vehicle before this was announced, we have good news for you; you will also be covered by this fantastic program as well!

Buick Celebrates 110th Birthday

Buick Celebrates 11 DecadesThe words of an unknown author, “from humble beginnings come great things”, have never been as true as they are when applied to the Buick car brand.  Beginning in 1903 as a single hand-built car in the barn behind David Dunbar Buick’s Detroit, MI home, the Buick brand has evolved into one of the elite luxury car makers in the world as it celebrates its 110th birthday.

To pay tribute to its storied, 11 decade history, Buick has compiled a list of 11 of the most influential milestones it has experienced.  They begin with the 1904 Model B and bridge into the 1938 Buick Y-Job, which holds the title of the first concept vehicle ever built.

Two years before the Y-Job was unveiled, Buick had its first production vehicle break the 100 mph mark, but that was only the beginning of speed for the automaker.  In 1987, Buick created its quickest car ever.  The 1987 Buick GNX raced from 0-60 mph in just 4.6 seconds, but only 457 units were produced; making it one of Buick’s rarest vehicles ever.

Today, Buick has sold more than 43 million vehicles across the globe.  To put that number into context, it is equivalent to every vehicle sold in the U.S. over the past three years.  You can see every event Buick has highlighted for its 110th birthday in the automaker’s press release.

Buick stages a Comeback

2013 Buick Encore2013 Buick EncoreBuick is no longer your grandparent’s type of car. The interior of a Buick is so technologically advanced and the exterior boasts clean, crisp style lines. These reasons and more are why Buick delivered their best retail sales year in seven years in 2012.

Buick is GM’s modern luxury brand that offers luxury cars and SUVs without the high prices. Buick is really shaping up to be a mainstream brand with luxurious amenities.

“Buick’s way of doing business is paying off,” said Brian Sweeney, vice president of Buick Sales and Service. “Our third straight year of growth is the result of beautiful design and quality engineering, a customer-focused dealer network, and opportunities like Experience Buick leasing.”

The Buick Enclave is Buick’s best-selling model and dealerships across the United States sold more than 50,000 units in 2012. The all-new Enclave is expected to retain these numbers and add even more in 2013.

A heads up on the new 2013 Buick Verano Turbo

2013 Buick Verano Turbo - Hutch Chevrolet

The 2013 Buick Verano Turbo will be available in the Fall, and will contain several upgrades that we’ve been highly anticipating.

A few of these features include IntelliLink, a Bose audio system, heated leather seats, a rearview camera, blind spot/ cross-traffic alert and a ton of other improved safety features.  Plus, a six-speed manual transmission is an available option at no cost!

The engine looks great too.  When you lift the hood of the 2013 Verano Turbo, you’ll find a 2.0-liter forced-induction four-cylinder that’s capable of producing 250 horsepower and can generate 260 lb-ft of torque.  Don’t think you’ll be sacrificing power for fuel economy either; the EPA says that the Verano Turbo is estimated to achieve 20 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.

The 2013 Buick Verano Turbo will have a base price of around $30k, so stop by and take a test drive when it’s available!  In the meantime, check out our inventory of other Buick Veranos!
