Chevy Unveils Iconic 2014 Camaro Z/28 with Race-Proven Engine

2014 Chevy Camaro Z28Chevrolet has finally equipped its famed Camaro with an engine that not only rivals, but trumps the iconic sports car’s distinct styling that has garnered most of the attention since the Camaro’s return.

The 2014 Chevy Camaro Z/28 will be powered by the track-tested and race-proven LS7 7.0-liter V8.  The LS7 found in the new Camaro is a modified version of the one found in the C6 Corvette Z06.  Outfitted in the 2014 Camaro Z/28, the LS7 produces an immense 500 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque.

“The LS7 lives on in the all-new Z/28, extending a performance legacy while delivering great power density in a lightweight package to give this exciting new Camaro a great feeling of control and balance,” said John Rydzewski, assistant chief engineer for small-block engines. “It introduced exotic materials and racing-influenced solutions that keep it at the forefront of high-performance technology.”

The LS7 is hand-assembled at General Motors’ Wixom, MI and delivers the ideal combination of weight and size to power the 2014 Camaro Z/28.

The LS7’s low mass and high rpm capability make it the perfect choice for the lightweight, track-capable Z/28, exemplifying all the strengths and attributes of the small-block architecture,” added Rydzewski.
