Staring into a crystal ball. Scrying. Casting lots. Humankind has pioneered so many ways to try to tell the future. Then there’s good old-fashioned technology, like Chevrolet Driver Assurance, for instance.
Beginning in 2016, models such as the Chevrolet Tahoe, Corvette and Silverado will come chock-full of sensors. These sensors will keep a vigilant eye on systems like the battery, fuel pump and starter motor.
They will then transmit the information to OnStar. OnStar will in turn analyze the data to determine if any performance issues are imminent. If so, drivers will receive an alert via onboard electronics or even email and text.
Alicia Boler-Davis, an executive at GM, said, “Using our innovative OnStar 4G LTE connectivity platform, we can actively monitor vehicle component health, and notify our customers if covered vehicle components need attention.” She went on to mention that Chevy stands alone in offering such a comprehensive and immediate service as Chevrolet Driver Assurance.
