You will not want to leave your all-new 2016 Cruze parked for long!

You will not want to leave your all-new 2016 Cruze parked for long!

Chevrolet has introduced the all-new 2016 Cruze, which is shaping up to be a big improvement over the existing yet already impressive model.

The upcoming Cruze will be both larger and lighter, allowing for more interior room and increased efficiency. It will also come with a whole new suite of sophisticated technology, such as Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and active safety systems that help everyone stay safe.

Under the hood, the 2016 Cruze will pack a new, standard 1.4-liter turbocharged engine with direct injection that produces 153 horsepower. GM estimates that the sedan will do about 40 mpg on the highway, partly thanks to stop/start technology and partly because of the weight-saving measures that have helped the Cruze trim about 250 pounds.

“It seems that Chevy has gotten the package right, with some of the best materials to be found in a compact car, plenty of space and a dramatically improved multimedia experience,” said Cars.com.

The car semms to be a huge step forward, and we cannot wait to have you test drive yours at Hutch Chevrolet Buick GMC of Paintsville, KY!

Camping Tips To Celebrate National Camping Month

Get some great camping tips to enjoy National Camping Month!

June is the month where we finally emerge from our abodes and shake off the last remnants of cabin fever. It also happens to be one of the best months to pitch a tent and brave it for all-night adventures in the wild (or semi-wild). Makes sense then that June is National Camping Month.

As many of you have likely experienced, camping can be tough. To ensure that your night out amongst the flora and fauna goes off without a hitch, here are a few helpful camping tips.

Make sure you bring the right supplies! Some sort of water filter and hydration bladders to store the water. Fire resistant gloves are a must if you enjoy cooking over a campfire. A multi-tool is absolutely essential to any camping trip.

Your success can largely depend on your campsite. Choose a location upwind from your neighbors, away from potentially falling dead branches, but otherwise with plenty of tree cover to abate a light rain.

Trail Sherpa provides other tricks to help you have the best camping trip possible. “Cotton balls with a smear of petroleum jelly make great fire starters,” and “Create various zones at your campsite,” like one for eating, another for lounging, etc. Bring activities and games for the kids! Camping can be thrilling for them, but it helps to keep them occupied at all times.  Tell us here at Hutch Chevrolet Buick GMC of Paintsville, KY your camping tips!

When you think of the pickup truck segment, it’s likely the first word that comes to mind isn’t fuel-efficient—until now! General Motors recently announced the fuel economy for the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon, and they are more impressive than their powerful engines! They boast segment-leading fuel economy!

For the V6 midsize pickup trucks with automatic transmissions, the Colorado and Canyon offer 3 to 5 mpg better than competitors’ fuel economies, making both pickups segment leaders. With a 305-horsepower V6, the two pickups get an estimated 21 mpg combined with two-wheel-drive and 20 combined with four-wheel-drive.

“Colorado offers some of the best EPA fuel economy estimates of any pickup in a fun-to-drive easy-to-own package,” said Tony Johnson, Colorado marketing manager. The all-new Canyon also offers this great fuel economy with other innovations, including active grille shutters and an aerodynamic design.

These two fuel-efficient pickup trucks will go on sale this fall, so make sure you keep an eye on Hutch Chevrolet’s lot for their arrival!

Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon to Return

2015 Chevy Colorado GMC Canyon PreviewWhen Chevrolet and GMC didn’t release a new model in 2013 for the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon it left many wondering if they too had decided to back out of the mid-sized pickup market.

Well, luckily GM has finally come through and given us light at the end of the tunnel with a teaser of what is to come. While we aren’t quite sure exactly when GM will be revealing the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon we don’t expect it to be too far into the future.

Production of the forthcoming Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon is scheduled to start in 2014. Hutch Chevrolet is very glad that the Colorado and Canyon will be making a triumphant return in 2015 and can’t wait for the duo to grace our showroom floors!

Build Your Dream Silverado or Sierra

2014 Chevy Silverado LTZ Z71 in Tungsten Metallic

Chevrolet and GMC have recently released the complete, full-blown, configurator for the 2014 Silverado and 2014 Sierra. At the time being, you’re only able to build out the Crew Cab models, since they are the only ones available right now. Expect the Regular Cab and Double Cab flavors to show up as they are released.

There are plenty of options for both of these trucks when you build your own, which makes it that much easier to set your truck apart from the rest and make it unique to you. Here at Hutch Chevrolet Buick GMC we’ve spent a little bit of time playing around with the tool and have came up with some pretty nice trucks, but my favorite so far has been a 4-Wheel Drive Chevy Silverado LTZ Z71 in Tungsten Metallic with 22” wheels, chrome tow hooks, black tubular side steps, cargo box LED lighting, and o so much more.

What are some of the things you’d put on your 2014 Silverado or Sierra?

2014 Models to Offer Covered Scheduled Maintenance

Scheduled MaintenanceGM recently broke news that select 2014 Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC models will be covered by their new maintenance plan. The plan will cover certain scheduled maintenance services for two years or 24,000 miles; whichever comes first.

“We know that customers who service their vehicles at our dealerships are much more likely to purchase another GM product down the road,” Akerson said.  “It’s all the more important to bring customers to our service facilities for routine maintenance to further enhance the quality and reliability of their GM vehicles.”

What you can expect from the scheduled maintenance program is a complete oil change with filter, four-wheel tire rotation, and a 27-point vehicle inspection. For those who purchased their vehicle before this was announced, we have good news for you; you will also be covered by this fantastic program as well!

For more information about the scheduled maintenance program on new 2014 vehicles please come see us at Hutch Chevrolet Buick GMC!

Aerodynamic 2014 Sierra Cab Design Bolsters Fuel Efficiency

2014-GMC-Sierra-Wind-Tunnel-Front-mediumGMC sought out to create a more aerodynamic, quieter pickup in its 2014 Sierra, so the automaker entered the wind tunnel.  GMC spent more time testing the 2014 Sierra in the wind tunnel than any pickup before it, and the result of extensive testing was just what they were looking for.

“We can’t stop air; we can only guide it through the path of least resistance. It’s like electricity, without the shock,” said Diane Bloch, GM aerodynamic performance engineer, in a press release. “The biggest misconception is that it’s all about single components. But a certain side mirror design doesn’t create a certain amount of drag, its interaction with the rest of the vehicle does.”

To find out which designs guided the air most efficiently, GMC utilized a 750-foot-long tunnel equipped with fan measure 43-feet in diameter.  The massive fan was able to generate wind speeds of up 138 mph inside the tunnel.

GMC modified things as significant as the tailgate to aspects as seemingly insignificant as add-on bug deflectors, in order to ensure that the 2014 Sierra is one of the most fuel efficient pickups on the market.

Sierra’s EcoTec3 and Ford’s EcoBoost Go Head-to-Head

2013 GMC SierraIt couldn’t be done, they said. Nothing could ever top it, they cried. This is the height of powertrain engineering, they called out.

They were wrong.

Last year, Ford introduced the EcoBoost V6 engine for its F-150. It achieved segment-best fuel efficiency, and the critics ate it up. But now GMC is fighting back with the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500, powered by the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 engine, which is not only more powerful, but also more efficient, than Ford’s EcoBoost V6.

In fact, the GMC Sierra 1500, which will be arriving here at Hutch Chevrolet Buick GMC later this spring, achieves the best fuel economy of any pickup in the segment. EPA estimates give it 23 miles per gallon on the highway and 16 in the city (for two-wheel drive models) or 22 miles per gallon on the highway and 16 in the city (for four-wheel drive models).

Even with the best-in-class fuel economy, the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 (for which three out of four GMC shoppers are expected to opt) pounds out 355 horsepower and delivers 383 lb-ft of torque. These figures are up by 40 and 48 from last year’s model, respectively. In addition, the engine gets a max towing capacity of 11,500 lbs—and yes, that’s another class-leading stat as well!

We’ll just call that GMC 1, Ford 0.

Come check out the all-new Sierra 1500 at Hutch Chevrolet Buick GMC when it arrives this spring!

GMC Reveals the Bold New 2014 Sierra 1500

2013 GMC Sierra - Hutch Chevrolet

The 2013 GMC Sierra 1500

The all-new 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 was revealed this past Thursday, and saying we’re impressed is an understatement.

First of all, the 2014 Sierra is the most powerful truck ever offered in GMC’s history.  Consumers will have a choice of a 4.3L V6, a 5.3L V8 and a 6.2L V8 EcoTec3 engine.  This not only translates to some incredibly impressive hauling capability, but also great fuel economy.  One of the great aspects of the EcoTec3 engine is that it features Active Fuel Management technology, which means that it seamlessly switches to run on four cylinders during light-load driving to save you fuel.

The interior of the 2014 Sierra is one of the most luxurious-feeling we’ve ever encountered in a truck.  Use of premium materials and attention to detail surround you, and the instrument panel even features a 4.2-inch Driver Information Center with radio, navigation, and even information regarding your truck’s status.

We couldn’t be more excited to feature the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 in our showroom in the near future.

GMC 2500 HD Sets Land Speed Towing Record

GMC 2500 HD - Hutch Chevrolet

The record for the fastest vehicle towing a trailer is 141.998 mph.  The only reason we know this is because the guys from Diesel Power just broke the previous record of 139.11 mph, and they did it using a souped-up GMC 2500 HD.  This truck had over 1,000 horsepower and was set up with a two-stage nitrous.  The main focus was on the engine and getting it up to 1,000 horsepower; little was done in the way of reducing wind resistance.

Of course, they recommend in normal circumstances never towing past the recommended speed limit, and not past 55 mph when you can help it.

Although we can’t guarantee that the 2013 GMC 2500HDs at our dealership will be capable of this feat without quite a bit of tweaking, we still recommend that you come check one of them out or take one for a test drive!  We’re happy to answer any questions you might have.
