2016 GMC Sierra Revealed at Last

We cannot wait for the 2016 GMC Sierra to grace our lot!

We cannot wait for the 2016 GMC Sierra to grace our lot!

Speculation has run wild for the past year as to how the new take on the GMC Sierra would look. Just on the heels of its best June sales in nine years for the pickup—and its 12th straight month of year-over-year sales increases—GMC put that speculation to bed by revealing the new-look 2016 GMC Sierra.

GMC certainly did a beautiful job with the exterior of the Sierra, updating the face of its best-selling truck to add LED “C-shaped” daytime running lights and headlights; a new grille at each trim level; new bumper, and new fog lamps. In the rear, the Sierra will also receive C-shaped taillights and a new rear bumper.

Apart from these tidbits and some tantalizing images, GMC isn’t letting on about what else will grace the 2016 Sierra. It has been confirmed that the Sierra will be released sometime in the fourth quarter of this year, adding that more information will follow in the months ahead.

We here at Hutch Chevrolet Buick GMC of Paintsville, KY can’t wait to share, so be sure to watch this space for the latest updates!

2014 Chevy Silverado LTZ Z71 in Tungsten Metallic

Chevrolet and GMC have recently released the complete, full-blown, configurator for the 2014 Silverado and 2014 Sierra. At the time being, you’re only able to build out the Crew Cab models, since they are the only ones available right now. Expect the Regular Cab and Double Cab flavors to show up as they are released.

There are plenty of options for both of these trucks when you build your own, which makes it that much easier to set your truck apart from the rest and make it unique to you. Here at Hutch Chevrolet Buick GMC we’ve spent a little bit of time playing around with the tool and have came up with some pretty nice trucks, but my favorite so far has been a 4-Wheel Drive Chevy Silverado LTZ Z71 in Tungsten Metallic with 22” wheels, chrome tow hooks, black tubular side steps, cargo box LED lighting, and o so much more.

What are some of the things you’d put on your 2014 Silverado or Sierra?

Aerodynamic 2014 Sierra Cab Design Bolsters Fuel Efficiency

2014-GMC-Sierra-Wind-Tunnel-Front-mediumGMC sought out to create a more aerodynamic, quieter pickup in its 2014 Sierra, so the automaker entered the wind tunnel.  GMC spent more time testing the 2014 Sierra in the wind tunnel than any pickup before it, and the result of extensive testing was just what they were looking for.

“We can’t stop air; we can only guide it through the path of least resistance. It’s like electricity, without the shock,” said Diane Bloch, GM aerodynamic performance engineer, in a press release. “The biggest misconception is that it’s all about single components. But a certain side mirror design doesn’t create a certain amount of drag, its interaction with the rest of the vehicle does.”

To find out which designs guided the air most efficiently, GMC utilized a 750-foot-long tunnel equipped with fan measure 43-feet in diameter.  The massive fan was able to generate wind speeds of up 138 mph inside the tunnel.

GMC modified things as significant as the tailgate to aspects as seemingly insignificant as add-on bug deflectors, in order to ensure that the 2014 Sierra is one of the most fuel efficient pickups on the market.

Sierra’s EcoTec3 and Ford’s EcoBoost Go Head-to-Head

2013 GMC SierraIt couldn’t be done, they said. Nothing could ever top it, they cried. This is the height of powertrain engineering, they called out.

They were wrong.

Last year, Ford introduced the EcoBoost V6 engine for its F-150. It achieved segment-best fuel efficiency, and the critics ate it up. But now GMC is fighting back with the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500, powered by the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 engine, which is not only more powerful, but also more efficient, than Ford’s EcoBoost V6.

In fact, the GMC Sierra 1500, which will be arriving here at Hutch Chevrolet Buick GMC later this spring, achieves the best fuel economy of any pickup in the segment. EPA estimates give it 23 miles per gallon on the highway and 16 in the city (for two-wheel drive models) or 22 miles per gallon on the highway and 16 in the city (for four-wheel drive models).

Even with the best-in-class fuel economy, the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 (for which three out of four GMC shoppers are expected to opt) pounds out 355 horsepower and delivers 383 lb-ft of torque. These figures are up by 40 and 48 from last year’s model, respectively. In addition, the engine gets a max towing capacity of 11,500 lbs—and yes, that’s another class-leading stat as well!

We’ll just call that GMC 1, Ford 0.

Come check out the all-new Sierra 1500 at Hutch Chevrolet Buick GMC when it arrives this spring!

GMC Reveals the Bold New 2014 Sierra 1500

The 2013 GMC Sierra 1500

The all-new 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 was revealed this past Thursday, and saying we’re impressed is an understatement.

First of all, the 2014 Sierra is the most powerful truck ever offered in GMC’s history.  Consumers will have a choice of a 4.3L V6, a 5.3L V8 and a 6.2L V8 EcoTec3 engine.  This not only translates to some incredibly impressive hauling capability, but also great fuel economy.  One of the great aspects of the EcoTec3 engine is that it features Active Fuel Management technology, which means that it seamlessly switches to run on four cylinders during light-load driving to save you fuel.

The interior of the 2014 Sierra is one of the most luxurious-feeling we’ve ever encountered in a truck.  Use of premium materials and attention to detail surround you, and the instrument panel even features a 4.2-inch Driver Information Center with radio, navigation, and even information regarding your truck’s status.

We couldn’t be more excited to feature the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 in our showroom in the near future.
